Terrible Moms group leader orientation in English this Spring
Are you a mother of a teenager and do you need support in your daily challenges? Could you support other mothers in the same situation?
You’re warmly welcome to become a Terrible Moms (Kamalat äidit®) peer-support group leader!
The orientation will prepare you to lead a peer group for mothers of teenagers. You’ll get to know our activities, how to lead groups as well as the themes discussed in the groups. Each group is led by two volunteer peer-support group leaders, who have received the training in the Kamalat äidit® model organized by the Finnish YWCA. We do not expect our peer-support group leaders to have a specific educational background – everyone interested in supporting mothers can lead a group with everyday life skills!
The orientation consists of two parts and it is needed to complete both of them.
Part 1: Introduction to the Terrible Moms activity model and the role of the group leader and diversity
Part 2: Inclusion in the Terrible Moms peer support groups
After participating in our orientation, you will be able to lead a group in a meaningful way and join our recreational activities for our volunteers. We organize national and regional events, continuation trainings and recreational activities for the peer-support group leaders. We provide volunteers with opportunities to exchange ideas and thoughts with other moms and learn about current topics about parenthood. We also support our volunteers’ wellbeing by offering guidance from the Terrible Moms-team when needed as well as access to professional work guidance.
